根据需要，把差速器锁定，以增加牵引力。
机器转向或在做铰接动作时，确保差速器是在脱锁状态。 此外，机器行车时，确保差速器是在脱锁状态。

当其中一侧的串联驱动轮遇到松软地面或溜滑的地面时，差速器锁定装置在任何时候都会提供最大的牵引力，以避免轮子打滑。 轮子无法控制的过分打滑，会造成驱动系统的某些部件加速磨损。 这是由于轮子打滑时润滑不足造成。
当其中一侧轮子打滑时不要把差速器锁定装置合上。 降低发动机转速直至轮子停止打滑。 预测轮子将会打滑之前先把差速器锁定装置合上。
