Before a calibration on the Payload Control System is performed, the correct password must be entered. If an incorrect password is entered, the display will revert to the weighing mode. If an incorrect password is entered, no warning will be given.

The default factory password is "12345". The default factory password can be changed to a new password. If this new password is lost or unavailable to the service technician, a Caterpillar representative must be notified in order to obtain a new factory password. Before a Caterpillar representative is called, record the date and year. The date and year will be shown on the display.

Contact the medium wheel loader product analyst or the large wheel loader product analyst for assistance. A new password will be provided.

Use the following steps to enter the new factory password:

  1. When the system is in the WEIGH Mode, press the "NEXT FUNCTION" key until "PASSW" appears on the display.

  1. Enter the new factory password.

  1. Press the STORE key.

  1. Press the "NEXT FUNCTION" key until "ENTER NEW PASSWORD" is shown on the top of the display.

  1. Enter the default password (12345).

  1. Press the STORE key.

  1. The message "END OF SETUP MENU" will scroll on the display. The display will return to the WEIGH Mode.
