End play (clearance) of the idler shaft:
- Minimum ... 0.38 mm (.015 inch)
- Maximum ... 1.14 mm (.045 inch)
(1) Depth of the stopper in the shaft ... 7 ± 7 mm (.28 ± .28 inch)
Note: The plug must not be recessed below the surface of the stopper after assembly and the plug must not extend from the surface of the stopper more than 5.0 mm (0.20 inch) .
(2) Clearance across the diameter between new shaft and bearings ... 0.50 ± 0.06 mm (.020 ± .002 inch)
(3) Idler Tread
- Diameter of new idler tread ... 620 mm (24.4 inch)
- Minimum permissible idler tread diameter ... 578 mm (22.8 inch)
(4) Torque for bolts ... 85 ± 15 N·m (63 ± 11 lb ft)
(5) Torque for bolts that hold the idler to the roller frame ... 1850 ± 150 N·m (1360 ± 110 lb ft)
Note: First, tighten the side with the abutment.
(6) Bearing depth from end of idler ... 13.0 ± 0.5 mm (.51 ± .02 inch)
Note: Rubber toric seals and all surfaces that are contacting the rubber toric seals must be clean and dry for assembly. Prior to assembly, apply a thin film of oil to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings. The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore. Also, the toric seal rings should not bulge and the seal rings must not be twisted.
