Installation Procedure

1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

2. Use two persons in order to position hydraulic cylinder (6) to the machine. The cylinder weighs 30 kg (65 lb). Lower the temperature of retention pin (7). Install retention pin (7) to hydraulic cylinder (6) and bracket (2).

3. Lower the temperature of the retention pin that is installed in bracket (5) and hydraulic cylinder (6). Install bolt (2) and the retention pin in bracket (5) and hydraulic cylinder (6).

4. Position hydraulic cylinder (6), bracket (5) and bolt (3) as a unit to the machine frame. Install four bolts (4) that secure bracket (5) to the machine frame.

5. Install bolt (3) in bracket (5) and the hydraulic cylinder. Install the nut to bolt (3).

6. Install bolt (1), the washer and the nut that secures the hydraulic cylinder to bracket (2).

End By:

1. Install the counterbalance valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Counterbalance Valve (Tailgate) - Install".
