Oscillation Lock System

Usage:

554 1AM
The oscillation lock system allows the operator to prevent the two ends of the machine from oscillating. The system consists of the following components: IQAN monitoring and control system, oscillation lock switch, combination valve, oscillation lock valve and oscillation lock cylinder.

The combination valve is located under the cab on the right side of the machine. The oscillation lock valve and the oscillation lock cylinder are located near the articulation of the machine.

(5) Oscillation lock cylinder. (7) Oscillation lock valve. (8) Knob.

The oscillation lock is automatically applied when the accelerator pedals are released with the engine on. The oscillation lock can be applied when the machine is moving by pressing and holding the oscillation lock switch. The oscillation lock switch is a momentary switch.

UNLOCKED Position

When the accelerator pedal is depressed and the oscillation lock switch is not depressed, the valve spool in oscillation lock valve (7) is in the DOWN position with the engine shutoff. Pressure oil flows from the implement pump to pressure reducing valve (6). Pressure reducing valve (6) reduces the oil pressure below the standby pressure of the pump.

Note: The pressure setting of pressure reducing valve (6) is adjustable. The pressure setting of pressure reducing valve (6) can be measured from pressure tap (AA) .

The reduced pressure oil then flows through the oscillation lock valve to the oscillation lock cylinder. Oil flow to the cylinder prevents cavitation in the cylinder when the oscillation lock valve moves to the LOCKED position.

As the machine travels over terrain, oil will flow between the head end of oscillation lock cylinder (5), rod end of oscillation lock cylinder (5), and the hydraulic tank.

LOCKED Position

When the accelerator pedal is released or the oscillation lock switch is pressed, current is sent to the solenoid. The valve spool in oscillation lock valve (7) is in the UP position. No oil will flow to the head end or the rod end of oscillation lock cylinder (5). The machine will not oscillate.

Also, the oscillation lock can be manually applied with knob (8). The knob overrides the oscillation lock switch. When the knob is pushed into the UP position the oscillation lock is applied. Normally, the oscillation lock is manually applied for servicing and transporting the machine.
