Start By:

  1. Remove the engine, the torque converter, the transmission and the output transfer gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine, Torque Converter, Transmission and Output Transfer Gears - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

  1. Remove two tube assemblies (1) as a unit from the engine and the output transfer gears.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) to the engine and the output transfer gears, as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting chains to Tooling (A) .

  1. Use the hoist to carefully lower the engine, the torque converter, the transmission and the output transfer gears on Tooling (B), as shown.

  1. Place two wood blocks (2) under the output transfer gears. The weight of the engine, torque converter, transmission and output transfer gears as a unit is 3630 kg (8000 lb).

  1. Place Tooling (C) under the transmission, as shown.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (3) .

  1. Remove four bolts (5) and the washers from tube assembly (6) and transmission magnetic screen (4) .

  1. Disconnect wire harness (7). Remove four bolts (8) and wire harness (7) .

  1. Remove tube assembly (6) from transmission pump (10) .

  1. Remove two tube assemblies (12) as a unit from steering pump (9) and brake pump (11) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (13) from transmission pump (10) .

  1. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling around steering pump (9) and brake pump (11) .

  1. Remove three bolts (14) and the washers.

  1. Remove steering pump (9), transmission pump (10) and brake pump (11) from the torque converter. The weight of the three pumps as a unit is 80 kg (176 lb).

  1. Attach Tooling (D) to the output transfer gears, as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting chains to Tooling (D) .

    NOTICE

    Do not remove the two bolts that hold the transmission planetary group to the transmission case. Removal of these bolts could damage the planetary components.


  1. Remove two bolts (15) and the washers from transmission (18) and output transfer gears (19) .

  1. Remove eighteen bolts (16) and the washers from transmission (18) and output transfer gears (19) .

  1. DO NOT remove two bolts (17) from transmission (18) .

  1. Use the hoist to carefully separate output transfer gears (19) from transmission (18). The weight of the output transfer gears is 525 kg (1160 lb).

  1. Remove O-ring seals (20) and (21) from transmission (18) .
