Governor Adjustment Procedure

  1. Align the center of the slot in pedal (2) with timing mark (12) .

  1. Remove rod end (9) that bolts to the control on the governor.

  1. Move governor lever (3) to the vertical position. Adjust setscrew (4) inward until the setscrew contacts the governor lever that is inside of the housing for the brake pedal. Loosen setscrew (4) by one full turn. Tighten the locknut in order to keep the setscrew in place.

  1. Position lever (11) on the splined governor shaft in shut off position (C) . This position is approximately 32° ± 5° forward from vertical position (B) . Position (A) is 35° from vertical position (B) .

  1. Adjust studs (7) in rod (8) and rod ends (9) in order to attain a free fit for the pin. To lock rod ends (9) in place, tighten the locknuts to a torque of 12 ± 4 N·m (106 ± 35 lb in) .

  1. Move governor lever (3) to theHIGH IDLE position while the engine is warm and running. Adjust HIGH IDLE setscrew (5) inward until the setscrew contacts governor lever (3) that is inside of the brake pedal assembly. Loosen setscrew (5) by one full turn. Tighten the locknut in order to lock the setscrew in place.

Procedure for Adjustment of the Decelerator Pedal

  1. Depress decelerator pedal (1) to the low position while the engine is warm and running in HIGH IDLE. Adjust setscrew (6) inward until the setscrew contacts the governor lever that is inside of the brake pedal assembly. Tighten the locknut in order to keep the setscrew in place.

  1. Bring the engine back to LOW IDLE with governor lever (3) and then increase the engine speed to HIGH IDLE with governor lever (3) .

  1. Depress decelerator pedal (1) in order to stop and check the RPM. If the engine speed is not correct, repeat step 1. The decelerator should be set at 1000 ± 50 RPM. When the engine is running at the correct RPM for the decelerator, lock the setscrew in place.
