Procedure To Install The AM/FM Cassette Radio And CD Player{7338}

Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the instructions for the installation of the AM/FM Cassette Radio and CD Player in Tillage and Row Crop Tractors.

Keep this Special Instruction with the machine after you install the radio. Also, keep the tools for installing and for removing the radio with the machine.

For information about radio operation, see the manual that is supplied with the radio.

Installation Procedure for Row Crop Tractors

Procedure to Install 169-6324 Radio (Standard Cassette)

  1. On the back of the radio, install the 136-5490 Bushing onto the stud.

  1. Install the 102-0382 Sleeve into the headliner. If necessary, slightly squeeze the sleeve at the top and the bottom. After you position the sleeve, make sure that you adjust the top and the bottom for a tight fit.

  1. After you install the sleeve, bend back the tabs. This will secure the sleeve in the headliner.

    Note: There are many tabs on the sleeve. These tabs are for panels with different thicknesses. Use the tabs that provide the most secure mounting.

  1. Locate the radio harness assembly and coaxial cable. Pull the radio harness assembly and coaxial cable out of the headliner so that the radio harness assembly and coaxial cable are accessible.

  1. Locate the angled plate in the mounting plate.

  1. While you hold the radio, connect the 136-5454 Radio Harness As to the radio. The 136-5454 Radio Harness As is then connected to the radio harness assembly. Also, connect the cable for the radio antenna to the coaxial cable in the headliner.

  1. Install the radio into the sleeve. the radio should snap into the sleeve. If you use moderate force and the radio does not snap into the sleeve, remove the sleeve. Install the sleeve so that the sleeve is positioned slightly out of the opening. Install the radio and the sleeve.

  1. Use the recommended removal tools in order to remove the radio. Fully insert the removal tools into the holes on each side of the radio. then, the removal tools will release the radio from the sleeve. After the radio is released from the sleeve, pull on the removal tools in order to remove the radio.

    Note: The removal tools are provided with the radio.

Procedure for the Installation of the 169-6326 Radio (Deluxe CD Player)

  1. On the back of the radio, install the 136-5490 Bushing onto the stud.

  1. Install the 102-0382 Sleeve into the headliner. If necessary, slightly squeeze the sleeve at the top and bottom. after you position the sleeve, make sure that you adjust the top and bottom for a tight fit.

  1. After you install the sleeve, bend back the tabs. This will secure the sleeve in the headliner.

    Note: There are many tabs on the sleeve. These tabs are for panels that have different thicknesses. Use the tabs that provide the most secure mounting.

  1. Locate the radio harness assembly and the coaxial cable. Pull the radio harness assembly and the coaxial cable out of the headliner so that the radio harness assembly and the coaxial cable are accessible.

  1. Install the radio into the sleeve. The radio should snap into the sleeve. If you use moderate force and the radio does not snap into the sleeve, remove the sleeve. Install the sleeve so that the sleeve is positioned slightly out of the opening. Install the radio and the sleeve.

  1. Use the recommended removal tools in order to remove the radio. Fully insert the removal tools into the holes on each side of the radio. Then, the removal tools will release the radio from the sleeve. After the radio is released from the sleeve, pull on the removal tools in order to remove the radio.

Procedure to Install the 169-6325 Radio (Deluxe Cassette) (CD Compatible)

  1. On the back of the radio, install the 136-5490 Bushing onto the stud.

  1. Install the 102-0382 Sleeve into the headliner. If necessary, slightly squeeze the sleeve at the top and the bottom. After you position the sleeve, make sure that you adjust the top and the bottom for a tight fit.

  1. After you install the sleeve, bend back the tabs. This will secure the sleeve in the headliner.

    Note: There are many tabs on the sleeve. These tabs are for panels with different thicknesses. Use the tabs that provide the most secure mounting.

  1. Locate the radio harness assembly and the coaxial cable. Pull the radio harness assembly and the coaxial cable out of the headliner so that the radio harness assembly and the coaxial cable are accessible.

    Note: If you are installing the optional CD player, place the 136-5447 Harness into the headliner. Connect the 136-5447 Harness to the radio. Connect the 136-5447 Harness to the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer . See ""Procedure to Install the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer " " in this Special Instruction for further instructions.

  1. Install the radio into the sleeve. The radio should snap into the sleeve. If you use moderate force and the radio does not snap into the sleeve, remove the sleeve. Install the sleeve so that the sleeve is positioned slightly out of the opening. Install the radio and the sleeve.

  1. Use the recommended removal tools in order to remove the radio.   1. Install the 102-0382 Sleeve into the headliner. If necessary, slightly squeeze the sleeve at the top and the bottom. After you position the sleeve, make sure that you adjust the top and the bottom for a tight fit.

  1. After you install the sleeve, bend back the tabs. This will secure the sleeve in the headliner.

    Note: If you are installing the optional CD player, place the 136-5447 Harness into the headliner. Connect the 136-5447 Harness to the radio. Connect the 136-5447 Harness to the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer . See ""Procedure to Install the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer " " in this Special Instruction for further instructions.

  1. Install the radio into the sleeve. The radio should snap into the sleeve. If you use moderate force and the radio does not snap into the sleeve, remove the sleeve. Install the sleeve so that the sleeve is positioned slightly out of the opening. Install the radio and the sleeve.

  1. Use the recommended removal tools in order to remove the radio. Fully insert the removal tools into the holes on each side of the radio. Then, the removal tools will release the radio from the sleeve. After the radio is released from the sleeve, pull on the removal tools in order to remove the radio.

    Note: The removal tools are provided with the radio.

Procedure to Install the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer on Tillage Tractors Only

The 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer requires the following items for installation:

Note: The 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer is also a CD player. The terms may be used interchangeably.

Note: In order to install the CD changer, only use the 136-5457 Bracket . Do not use the bracket that is provided with the CD changer.

In order to use the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer , you must install either the 169-6325 Radio or the 169-6326 Radio .

For information about the operation of the CD player, see the manual that is supplied with the CD player.

  1. Install either the 169-6325 Radio or the 169-6326 Radio . Make sure that you install the 136-5447 Harness to the radio. Route the other end of the 136-5447 Harness to the left side of the headliner. The end of the 136-5447 Harness should be accessible from the mounting hole for the CD changer.

  1. Open the cover in order to access the mounting hole.

  1. Insert the mounting bracket into the mounting hole.

    Note: In order to install the CD changer, only use the 136-5457 Bracket . Do not use the bracket that is provided with the CD changer.

  1. Position the CD changer on the inside of the mounting bracket.

  1. Use the three 5I-3166 Screws to attach one side of CD changer to the mounting bracket.

  1. Repeat Step 4 and Step 5 on the other side.

  1. Connect the 136-5447 Harness to the back of the 170-7251 Compact Disc Changer . Connect the other end of the harness to the radio.

  1. Position the CD changer in the mounting hole. There are four holes in the mounting bracket that will line up with four holes in the headliner.

    Note: The holes are already drilled in the headliner. The vinyl that covers the headliner should be punctured. Puncture the vinyl before you install the CD changer.

  1. Secure the mounting bracket to the headliner with four 136-5634 Screws .

Additional Information

One cartridge is supplied with the CD changer. An additional 170-7253 Compact Disc Magazine As can be obtained from any Caterpillar dealer.
