Usage:
start by:
a) remove valve lifter
b) remove timing gear cover
1. Turn the camshaft until the "C" mark on the crankshaft gear (2) is in alignment with the "C" mark on the camshaft gear (1).
2. Put a mark on the idler gear and gear for the accessory drive shaft at location (A). Put a mark on the idler gear and camshaft gear at location (B). This procedure will make sure there is correct camshaft timing of the fuel injection pump during installation of the camshaft.
3. Remove bolts (3) that hold the camshaft thrust washer. Remove lock and thrust washer.
4. Slide the camshaft and gear out of the cylinder block.
Install Camshaft
1. Put clean engine oil on the lobes and bearing journals of the camshaft.
2. Install the camshaft in the cylinder block with the timing marks in alignment on the accessory drive shaft gear, idler gear, camshaft gear and crankshaft gear.
3. Install the camshaft thrust washer, lock and bolts.
4. Install the valve lifters on the camshaft.
NOTE: If any of the above four timing gears have been replaced, it will be necessary to put the accessory drive shaft into time. See REMOVE AND INSTALL FUEL INJECTION PUMP HOUSING AND GOVERNOR AS A UNIT.
