SUPPLEMENT: 04/08/96

Service Magazine; March 11, 1996; Page 2; "Undercarriage Gauge and Belt Width Options" for Challenger 35, Challenger 45, and Challenger 55 Agricultural Tractors.

The part number shown in the chart in the Hardbar Spacer column for the gauge width 1778 mm (70 in) is incorrect. The correct part number for the 1778 mm (70 in) gauge width is 124-3678. See the corrected chart below.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

The following chart identifies the spacer groups, spacers, and bolts needed to achieve the sixteen gauge widths available for row crop tractors. The different gauge widths are accomplished by using the six base spacer groups for 1524 mm (60 in), 1727 mm (68 in), 1829 mm (72 in), 1930 mm (76 in), 2032 mm (80 in), and 2235 mm (88 in) gauges.

The six base spacer groups contain the spacers, bolts, washers, guards, and covers required for that spacer length. The parts in the base spacer groups are not listed in the chart. See the Parts Manual for the appropriate machine for the parts in the base spacer groups. The chart provides the additional spacers and bolts required to achieve the additional 51 mm (2 in) gauge increments.

The chart also shows which belt widths can be used with each gauge.

NOTE: Spacers are added to the OUTSIDE of the base spacer. Some bolts are common between the various spacers.

For Example: A machine is currently configured for a 1524 mm (60 in) gauge. The required gauge is 1981 mm (78 in). Follow the following procedure in order to determine the correct parts for the new gauge.

1. Order all of the parts in the 1930 mm (76 in) 108-1936 Spacer Group which are not common with the 1524 mm (60 in) 108-1934 Spacer Group. (Refer to the Parts Manual in order to compare the parts lists.)

2. Order 24 6V-8198 Bolts and two 124-3678 Spacers for the hardbar.

3. Order 30 8T-0668 Bolts and two 124-3679 Spacers for the drivewheel.
