Challenger 65 Tractors
The 3W5871 Support Assembly (2) holds the brake master cylinder and booster to the lower right front corner of the cab. The support assembly can fill with water when the machine is washed or when it rains.

Water in the support assembly can lead to seizure of 7K2135 Bearings (4) in 8R1427 Lever (3). If the bearings seize in the lever, the brakes will drag because the booster is not able to retract completely. It may also cause the brake lights to remain on after the brakes have been applied because the brake pedal does not fully return.
If the brakes drag or the brake lights remain on after the brake pedal is released, remove plate (1) from the top of the support and inspect lever (3). If water or rust is present, remove the lever and inspect bearings (4). Take the following steps if the bearings or lever is rusted.
1. Replace the bearings and pack the inside diameter of the bore with 5P0960 Grease. Install the lever and adjust the control cable. Also, adjust the brake light warning switch on the brake pedal.
NOTE: It is desirable to drill and tap lever (3) to accept a grease fitting. Fill the lever with 5P0960 Grease until grease comes out from the sides of the lever.
2. To help keep water out of support assembly (2), run a bead of 8T9014 (clear) Silicone Sealant around all the inside corners and joints of the support assembly. Then, apply sealant between the support and plate (1). The bead of silicone sealant should be large enough to seal the mating surface when the bolts that hold plate (1) are installed.
NOTE: Do not drill drain holes in the bottom of support assembly (2). The holes would allow dirt to enter the area.
