Usage:
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Drain the coolant only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap from the radiator slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to avoid personal injury. |
1. Remove the coolant from the engine to a level below the water temperature regulator housing.
2. Remove four bolts (1), and loosen tube (2) from the water temperature regulator housing.
3. Remove two bolts (3), and turn elbow (4) away from the water temperature regulator housing.
4. Remove bolts (5) that hold the water temperature regulator housing to the cylinder head. Remove water temperature regulator housing. bRemove the water temperature regulator and seal from the housing.
NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the water temperature regulator.
5. Install the seal in the water temperature regulator housing with Tooling (A). Install the seal with the lip away from the regulator. Put clean engine oil on the lip of the seal.
6. Install the water temperature regulator in the housing. Put the water temperature regulator housing in position on the cylinder head. Install the bolts that hold it.
7. Turn elbow (4) into position on the housing. Install the bolts that hold it.
8. Install the bolts that hold tube (2) to the housing.
9. Fill the cooling system to the correct level. Refer to the "Operation & Maintenance Manual."
