Installation of Cylinder Guards and Flipover Pads{7164, 7222} Caterpillar

Introduction

When assembled separately, the 9R5560 Cylinder Guard Group and 9R6007 Stabilizer Pad Group are incompatible. This is due to the fact that the 9R6007 Stabilizer Pad Group incorporates a 1017888 Pin Assembly to act as a stop for the flipover pad. The 1017888 Pin Assembly cannot be installed simultaneously with the 9R5560 Cylinder Guard Group because the guard group also performs the function of the stop for the pad.

This instruction provides the information necessary for the proper installation of these two attachments.

Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.

Necessary Parts

Installation of Cylinder Guards with Pre-Existing Flipover Pads

1. Remove the existing 1017888 Pin Assembly (A) from the 9R6007 Stabilizer Pad Group.

2. Install 9R6015 Stop Assembly (7) on stabilizer cylinder, as shown, using two 5P0599 Clamps (8).

3. Install 9R6022 Guard Assembly (6) using 9R6024 Pin (5) and existing 9R0109 Washers and 6V8144 Rings.

4. Repeat Steps 1 thru 3 on the opposite stabilizer.

Installation of Flipover Pads with Pre-Existing Cylinder Guards

1. Remove and discard existing 9R0424 Pin (A) and 8Y8601 Stabilizer Pad (B) from the 9R0041 Stabilizer Group.

2. Install 9R6008 Pad Assembly (1) on the stabilizer assembly, as shown, using one 9R5551 Shaft (2), Two 0L2070 Bolts (3) and two 9S8752 Nuts (4).

3. Perform Steps 1 and 2 on opposite stabilizer.
