PROBLEM
The bearing in the transmission oil and scavenge pump may fail on certain 735 Articulated Trucks because of incorrect assembly. A new bearing must be installed in the oil pump to prevent a failure.AFFECTED PRODUCT

ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the 735 Articulated Truck Power Train Disassembly And Assembly Service Manual, RENR5138 as necessary to perform this rework.1. Follow "Torque Converter And Transmission-Remove" to remove the transmission from the vehicle.
2. Follow "Torque Converter Housing-Remove" to separate the torque converter group from the planetary group.
3. Remove the torque converter from the housing in order to get to the transmission oil pump.
4. Remove the transmission oil and scavenge pump.
5. Follow the instructions "Transmission Oil And Scavenge Pump-Disassemble" to remove the 8H9789 Bearing from the pump shaft. Inspect the 1403666 Shaft and the 1423350 Needle Bearings for any unusual wear.
6. Use the 1P0510 Driver Group to install a new 8H9789 Bearing on the shaft
8. Follow "Torque Converter Housing-Install" to assemble torque converter planetary. Be sure to install a new 2190606 Lip Seal before the housing is installed.
9. Follow the instructions "Torque Converter And Transmission-Install" to install the transmission into the vehicle.

Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated June 23, 2005 when scheduling this service. You will not be charged for the service performed.
