Action Required
Inspect all 0R1570, 0R1571, 0R1572, 0R1772, 0R2413, 0R2693, 0R2694, 0R2861, and 0R2862 Cylinder Kits in parts stock with a date code stamped on the packing box label prior to 099168 (09 = 9th month, 91 = year, and 68 is the factory) to see which piston pin retainer is installed. Use a suitable tool to remove the existing 8N7295 Retainers and install the new 7E5665 Retainers. Refer to the article in the October 1991 Engine News, October 1991 Truck Engine News, or the October 14, 1991 Service Magazine.
Make sure that the retainers are installed with the opening in the retainer oriented correctly.
Complete the assembly of the kits by pushing the pistons back into the liner to their original position.
Reworked kits should be returned to parts stock with a red dot on their packing box label to indicate that it they have been reworked.
