NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS0573" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from parts stock as soon as possible.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the December 20, 1991 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Termination Date, Parts Needed, Action Required, and Service Claim Allowances.

The cylinder head gasket may leak coolant or combustion gasses on certain Challenger 75 Tractors and 3176 Truck Engines. To determine if a failure has occurred, there must be evidence of a coolant leak or a combustion gas leak.

Refer to Special Instruction SEHS9540 "3176 Cylinder Head Gasket Repair Procedure. " Install the new 101-0785 Head Gasket. (Leave the tape on the fire rings.)
