SUPPLEMENT: 09/27/78

ENGINE NEWS, AUGUST 30, 1978, PAGE 4.

In the article "New Camshaft Rear Bearing For The Sleeve Metering Fuel System" the SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FORM NO. SMHS6735 shown is wrong. The correct form number is SMHS7343.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new camshaft rear bearing, for the sleeve metering fuel system, is available for parts service on the above models. There have been several replacements of the fuel injection pump housing because of wear to the camshaft rear bearing. The new bearing will decrease the number of replacements and increase the usable life of the fuel injection pump housing. The new bearing is a precision bearing and does not need to be machined after installation, but will need the correct alignment procedure. It has an increase in clearance and an increase in press fit, in comparison to the original bearing installed at the factory. See the chart.

Adaptable As: The new 8N628 Sleeve Bearing is a direct replacement for the original 4N3711 Sleeve Bearing.

INSTALLATION: For a reference during installation of the replacement bearing, use SPECIAL INSTRUCTION, FORM NO. SMHS7343, "Installation of 5P4810 Bearing In Sleeve Metering Fuel Injection Pump Housing".
