Changes To Direct Inquiry SIRS{0374}

Usage:

Since September 1980, U.S. and Canadian dealers have had the capability of on-line computer access to the Service Information Retrieval System (SIRS). A new method of SIRS inquiry is now available. This new method allows dealers to inquire directly to the SIRS computer data base. Turnaround time for dealer inquiries should be improved.

The following major improvements have been made to Direct Inquiry SIRS:

1. The inquiry limitation of a maximum range of ten component codes has been eliminated. A single inquiry can now obtain a much wider range of literature references.
2. Product Update information is available by the addition of an optional field to the inquiry screen.
3. An optional Literature Abbreviation field has been added to the inquiry screen. Literature information on a single publication type, such as Service Magazine or Parts Book, can be obtained.
4. A Range of Years field has been added as an option to the inquiry screen. Literature references for a specific period of time (such as 1978 to 1982) can be obtained.

Complete information on this system is contained in the Direct Inquiry SIRS User Instructions, Form SEBD3459. Additional copies of these instructions can be obtained by placing a literature order on the Dealer Terminal System.
