Description of Change:
NOTE: This article supersedes the article titled "New Main Bearig Provides Improved Oil Distribution" in the January 1996 issue of Engine News.
A new standard sized main bearing is used in the above engines. This new main bearing has a slightly harder overlay material (1) which reduces wear. The aluminum lining material (2) on the surface of the bearing provides the load carrying capacity. See the illustration. Some of the undersized and oversized bearings have also been replaced with the new style bearings.
Adaptable To: The chart provides a complete list of the current and former crankshaft main bearings.
The new standard sized main bearings are in effect as listed in the subtitle. The current bearings listed in the chart are direct replacement for the former bearings listed in the chart. The former bearings are canceled.
