CAT REMAN ANNOUNCES CANCELLATION OF THE 797 REMAN DIFF AND INTRODUCTION OF DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER HOUSINGS FOR MINING MACHINES
Product Introduction
In an effort to help dealers better manage and control their rebuild costs, Caterpillar announces the introduction of a new product line, Reman Differential Carrier Housings, for mining machines. In discussions and surveys with numerous dealers, we discovered that much of the salvage for these type of components was being sent outside of the dealerships. With a Cat Reman option, dealers can now take advantage of an off-the-shelf solution backed by standard Caterpillar warranty that will be salvaged by and to the latest Caterpillar specifications and processes. Part numbers being made available and the type of product they support are listed below:
With the introduction of this new product line which is intended to support dealer rebuild shops with better piece part options, we also announce that we are in process of cancelling the 0R9815 Differential Group for the 797 truck. Our experience with the differential groups is that due to the high piece part replacement requirements, a Reman group was not as cost effective as a dealer rebuild where dealers can better track hours on gears and other critical components.
Additional offerings are under development and will be announced in the future. Always refer to SISWEB and the Numerical Parts Record for the latest availability of Reman components.
Features and Benefits
The salvage processes Reman will apply on these differential carrier housings are the same processes that have been published and available to our dealers. The benefits Reman offers are the quality control processes that can be in place in a production type environment. Reman offers potential advantages to dealers in that a Reman solution available immediately can eliminate costly downtime and lack of control where those parts had been outsourced to job shops outside the dealer?s control. This new service option can help reduce turnaround time and decrease downtime. Customers who want fast repair turn-around, superior quality and reliability, and lower repair costs will benefit from the use of these Remanufactured components. Caterpillar remanufactured components provide immediate, off-the-shelf availability at a fraction of the new price.
