IMPROVED 7-BOLT HOLE SPROCKET SEGMENT FOR D8R/T & D7R TRACTORS AND 587R/T & 583T PIPELAYERS
To maintain better bolt retention, two
additional bolt holes have been added to D8R/T, D7R, 587R/T and 583T sprocket
segments. Made from Caterpillar Tough SteelTM, these sprocket
segments offer extended wear life.
All D8R/T Track Type Tractors built in
Benefits
The introduction of the 7-bolt Tough SteelTM
segment allows better retention in applications where retention is an issue due
to bolt loosening.
D8T/R and Pipelayer Changes
An improved sprocket segment is now
used on new D8R/T, 587R/T and 583T
machines. The new segment and final drive hub use seven mounting bolts instead
of five to improve sprocket segment retention. All factory built D8R/T tractors,
and 587R/T and 583T pipelayers now use seven bolts to mount the new segment to
the final drive hub.
?
When installing
the new 7-bolt segment onto hubs with a 7-bolt pattern, install all seven bolts.
?
When installing
the new 7-bolt segment onto hubs with a 5-bolt pattern, either install only five
bolts or rework the hub to the 7-bolt hole pattern and install all seven bolts.
If sprocket segment loosening is not an issue with the existing 5-bolt pattern,
it is not necessary to rework the final drive hub to a 7-bolt pattern.
?
When installing
D8 SystemOne undercarriage, it is recommended that only the 7-bolt mounting be
used.

released in order to improve the retention of the sprocket segment on D8R and

machines. It is not necessary to rework the final drive hub to the seven bolt
pattern unless there are segment retention issues.
