Usage:
(1) Torque for bolts that hold valve housing to motor case ... 300 N·m 220 lb ft)
(2) Torque for bolts that hold brake housing to valve housing ... 580 N·m (430 lb ft)
(3) Torque for bolts that hold cover on brake housing (tighten bolts in steps to evenly compress brake springs) ... 120 N·m (90 lb ft)
(4) Torque for plug in end of brake housing ... 100 N·m (75 lb ft)
Case drain ... 3.8 liter/min (1 U.S. gpm)
Bearing Preload Procedure
a. Press bearing cups into each side of the bearing support.
b. Install support washer and shaft seal (9) in bearing support between the bearings.
c. Use a press to install deflector (11) on to shaft. Use a force of 169 kN (19 Tons) to be sure the deflector is against the shoulder of the shaft.
d. Install shaft seal (10).
e. Press the bearing cone on the shaft against the deflector.
f. Install the shaft in the bearing support.
g. Press bearing cone on shaft until the bearing makes contact with the bearing cup. Put a force on bearing cone of 169 kN (19 Tons) and release the force.
h. Install spacer (8) and circlip (7).
i. Use a feeler gauge and measure the clearance between spacer (8) and circlip (7).
j. The shim thickness needed for the correct bearing preload is: the measured clearance + 0.20 mm (.008 in).
k. Install the correct shim next to the bearing and then the spacer. Press on the bearing until the circlip will go into the groove in the shaft.
Parking Brake
(5) Number of plates ... 16
Thickness of new plate ... 1.50 ± .05 mm (.059 ± .002 in)
(6) Number of friction disks ... 16
Thickness of new disk ... 3.20 ± .05 mm (.126 ± .002 in)
Minimum stack height of all disks ... 50.0 mm (1.97 in)
Procedure To Determine Brake Shim Thickness
a. Install disks and plates alternately in brake housing.
b. Put the brake piston on top of the disks. Use a press to compress the brake disks.
c. Measure the distance between the top of the piston and the top of the brake housing.
d. The shim thickness is the measurement ... 1.40 mm (.055 in).
e. Place the shims on the last disk with the thickest shim next to the piston.
