New Bronze Thrust Plate Used On Center Main Bearing Of Crankshaft Groups

Usage:

3400 Family Of Engines

Description of Change: A new, wider thrust plate is used on the center main bearing of the crankshaft groups. The new thrust plate is made of a cast bronze material and has a full 180 degree flange. These changes will improve the service life and prevent incorrect installation of the thrust plate. The former thrust plate was narrower and made of steel backed aluminum with a tabbed flange.

Adaptable To: The new 7E9262 Thrust Plate is a direct replacement for the former 7N8947 (3406), and 1W5252 (3408, 3412) Thrust Plates (both canceled). In all applications, the new full-width design will be used. See the chart for the effectivity of this change. The illustration shows the typical locations of the new thrust plate.
