Description Of Change: A new duplex oil filter lever linkage assembly is now used on the engines that are listed above. The new linkage uses ball joint rod ends with seals to improve durability and increase service life.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the engines within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all engines after the listed serial numbers.

Rework Procedure

Follow the instructions below for installing the new oil filter lever linkage assembly.

  1. Remove the existing linkage. Inspect 4W-0096 Lever (handle) and 3D-9777 Lever (Duplex valve) for wear, replace if needed.

    (5) 4W-0096 Lever
    (6) 5B-9079 Jam Nut

  2. Assemble one jam nut (6) and one rod end (3) on each end of the 521-3763 Tie-Rod. Assemble the tie rod assembly to provide equal thread engagement on both rod ends.

  3. Rotate the selector valve to the main run position until the valve touches the stop pin inside the cover assembly.

  4. With the operator’s lever in the main run position, screw the plunger assembly into the lever until the plunger ball seats into the top hole in the mounting bracket.

  5. Assemble the tie rod assembly onto lever (handle) (5), refer Illustration 2.

  6. Assemble the tie rod assembly onto lever (Duplex Valve) (7) using bolt (1), hard washer (4), and jam nut (6), refer Illustration 3.

  7. Adjust linkage to the lever and handle positions. Tighten all jam nut (6) to 30 ± 5 N·m (266 ± 44 lb in).
