The relief valve is on the hydraulic tank. The relief valve is a direct acting valve. When hydraulic oil pressure rises above the valve setting, the oil overcomes the force of spring and flows back to the hydraulic tank.
The relief valve pressure setting is adjusted by removing the cap, loosening a locknut, and turning the adjusting screw. The adjusting screw can be turned clockwise to increase the pressure setting and counterclockwise to decrease the pressure setting of the relief valve.
