Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Disconnect batteries before performance of any service work. |
Note: Before disconnecting the cable assemblies, mark the items for the proper connections in order to ensure correct assembly.
- Remove plate (3) from electric starting motor.
- Disconnect cable assemblies (1) from solenoid and electric starting motor (2).
If the engine has two electric starting motors, disconnect the cable assemblies between the two solenoids and electric starting motors.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to the electric starting motor (2). The weight of the electric starting motor is
35.8 kg. (79 lb.) .Show/hide tableIllustration 2 g06114011 - Remove three bolts (4). Remove electric starting motor (2).

- Inspect the gasket for the joint between the electric starting motor and the flywheel housing. Obtain a new gasket, if necessary.

- Tighten nuts (5) and (6) to a torque of
41 ± 5 N·m (30.5 ± 3.5 lb ft) .
- Tighten nuts (5) and (6) to a torque of
