Start By:
- Remove the cross rod.
- Remove the bull gear.
- Install Tooling (A) to prevent bearing housings (1) from turning. Position bearing housings (1) to clear the frame assembly during crankshaft removal.

- Remove flat head screws (2) and retainer (3) on the left side (drive side). Remove flat head screws (4) and retainer (5) on the right side (off put side).

- Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to remove crankshaft (7). Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of crankshaft (7) and Tooling (C).

- Install crankshaft (7) in the reverse order of removal.
- Install outer races for the #1 bearing and #6 bearing (quintuplex). Install outer races for the #1 and #4 bearing (triplex).
- Apply Tooling (E) to the threads of flat head screws (2) and (4).
- Tighten flat head screws (2) and (4) to a torque of

Note: WS223 uses one spacer ring (8) installed on the drive side. WS255 uses two spacer rings (8). One installed on the drive side and one on the off-put side
Note: To check the crankshaft total float travel measurement. Use a dead blow hammer to hit the crankshaft (7) towards the left side (drive side) until travel stops. Install Tooling (F) and set Tooling (F) to zero. Hit the crankshaft (7) back towards the dial indicator until travel stops. Note the travel and record the measurement.
- Use Tooling (F) to check the crankshaft total float travel measurement. Refer to Table 3 for the crankshaft total float travel tolerances.
