Engine News, SEBD9711, June 2011, "A New Top O-Ring Seal Is Used on the Cylinder Liner in C175-16 Generator Set Engines". The original article has been revised to add a new part number used in the top O-ring groove and to add effectivity.

Description Of Change: The new top O-ring has a higher temperature capability and has increased chemical resistance to deterioration caused by contact with petroleum-based products.

Adaptable To: The new 422-6176 O-ring Seal is used in the place of the original 253-9950 O-ring Seal in the top O-ring groove. The 253-9950 O-ring Seal will continue to be used in the two lower O-ring grooves.

The new 422-6176 O-ring Seal has a red coating to distinguish the new O-ring from the originally used 253-9950 O-ring Seal. The 253-9950 O-ring Seal is coated in a purple color.

The new O-ring is adaptable back to first production of the serial numbers listed above.

The new O-ring is effective with the following serial numbers:

• R1X01000

• BXR01005

• M6A01002
