Removal Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Remove cable straps (4) and disconnect harness assembly (3) .

- Remove nut (1) and remove coil assembly (2) .
- Remove cartridge valve (5) .

- Remove back up ring (6) from cartridge valve (5) . Remove both O-ring seals (7) and (8) .

Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Install the Variable Valve Actuator Oil Pressure Solenoid assembly in the reverse order.
- Tighten cartridge valve (5) to a torque of 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft).
- Tighten nut (1) to a torque of 6.5 ± 0.5 N·m (58 ± 4 lb in).
Note: Check all O-ring seals and back up rings for damage. Replace the seals if the seals are damaged.
