Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Cooler - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to remove engine oil filter (6) .

  1. Remove bolts (1), the bracket, and base assembly (2) .

  1. Remove bolts (8) and flanges (7). Disconnect hose assemblies (9) and remove the O-ring seals. Remove bolts (11), adapter (10), and the O-ring seal from engine oil filter base (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (4), bolts (12), engine oil filter base (5), and O-ring seals (3) .
