(2) Port to hydraulic tank (3) Port from hydraulic accumulator (4) Port to brakes |
The retarder control valve (1) modulates the oil supply to the braking system when the retarder lever is moved to the ON position.
The retarder control valve (1) controls the flow of pressure oil between the hydraulic accumulator and the service brake control valve. When the retarder control valve (1) is in the OFF position, pressure oil enters the retarder control valve at port (3) and flows to the service brake control valve through port (4).
When, the retarder lever is moved to the ON position the Machine ECM energizes the retarder solenoid. The position of the retarder lever will determine the amount the retarder solenoid will open. Pressure oil flows from port (3) and returns to the hydraulic tank through port (2). The oil pressure in the braking system decreases, causing the service brakes to apply.
