Procedure To Relocate Attachment Ready Option (ARO) Connectors On Certain D6N Track Type Tractors {1408}

To prevent personal injury or death, perform the following:

Park the machine on a smooth level surface.

Lower the blade and or attachments to the ground.

Stop the engine and engage the parking brake.

Block the wheels and install the steering frame lock.

Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key.

Place a Special Instruction, SEHS7332, "Do Not Operate" tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.

Installation Procedure

  1. Turn off the main disconnect switch.

  2. Remove bracket (A), three caps (B), three bosses (C), and grill assembly (D). Retain the caps, bosses with screws, bolts (E), and washers (F).

  3. Remove the left-hand light. Unscrew three receptacles (G) from the bracket. Retain the screws and the spring clips. Cut four straps (H) holding the harness, the resistors, and the ARO diagnostic connector. Check for the "AM" labels behind the connectors which remain on the ARO harness.

  4. Take measurements per dimensions in Illustration 3 to locate the center of the hole. See Step 7. Remove the left-hand side door with the hinges and the left-hand side panel.

  5. Cut the seven straps (J) inside the radiator guard and disconnect the ARO harness (K) at connector (L).

  6. Pull out the ARO harness (K) from the front of the guard. Enlarge the hole in the baffle. Retain the ARO harness.

  7. Drill a hole to the diameter (D3) on the left-hand radiator panel side. Deburr the hole and paint the contour of the hole to avoid rust.

  8. Disconnect the wires from the ARO service connector (M). Retain the connector.

  9. Bring the harness through the hole, leaving the three ARO connectors outside and install grommet (8).

  10. Install back the left-hand front light and grid (3) with two bolts (E) and two washers (F). Torque bolts (E) to 55 ± 10 N·m (40.56580 ± 7.40 lb ft).

  11. Insert washer (4) between the grid and plate assembly (1). Install plate assembly on the grid using two bolts (7) and two washers (F). Torque bolts (7) to 55 ± 10 N·m (40.60 ± 7.40 lb ft).

  12. Install back the left-hand door and the plate assembly on the radiator guard. Use two bolts (5) and two washers (4) at the top of the hinge and insert two washers (4) between the plate assembly and the radiator guard.

  13. Assemble the ARO connectors on plate assembly (2) using fasteners from Step 3. Use Loctite to secure and torque screws to 0.5 ± 0.1 N·m (0.37 ± 0.07 lb ft).

  14. Assemble the bosses (C) and caps (B) on the plate assembly. Install the plate assembly on the radiator guard using four nuts (6) and four washers (4). Torque nuts (6) to 55 ± 10 N·m (40.60 ± 7.40 lb ft).

  15. Reconnect the wires on the ARO diagnostic connector per schematic.

  16. Connect the ARO harness to connector (L) and strap connector to the ladder. Route the harness, making a loop, oriented to the bottom for length excess. Strap harness to prevent interference with other components. Strap the ARO diagnostic connector and the two resistors on the harness.

  17. Install back the left-hand side panel.
