Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove engine enclosure.

Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures. Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

1. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position and turn the power disconnect switch to the OFF position.

2. Drain the coolant just below the level of the clean emissions module. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedure.

3. Loosen clamp (2) and disconnect tube assembly (1).

4. Loosen clamp (4) and disconnect hose assembly (3).

5. Disconnect harness assemblies (5).

6. Disconnect hose assemblies (8).

7. Remove straps (7) and disconnect harness assembly (6) and harness assembly (9).

8. Disconnect harness assembly (10).

9. Remove bolts (12) and NOx sensor (11).

10. Remove bolt (14).

11. Disconnect harness assembly (13) and position out of the way.

12. Disconnect harness assembly (15) and harness assembly (17).

13. Remove bolts (18) and NOx sensor (16).

14. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to clean emissions module (19). The weight of clean emissions module is approximately 126 kg (278 lb).

15. Remove bolts (20), bolts (21), and clean emissions module (19).

Installation Procedure

1. Install clean emission module (19) in the reverse order of removal.
