Turbocharger Actuators for the C7 and the C9 2007 Model Year Engines are not Serviceable{1052} Caterpillar

Truck Engine:

C7 (S/N: C7S500-UP)

C9 (S/N: MFF500-UP; C9S500-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The above listed engines have electronically actuated turbochargers. The actuators are nonserviceable and the actuators should not be removed or replaced. The actuators are specifically set for the individual turbocharger that is on the engine. If the actuator is removed or replaced, the turbocharger will not function properly.

Solution

If a problem with the actuator is found, the entire turbocharger needs to be replaced.

Note: The C7 for an RV application is the only C7 application that has the electronic actuators.
