New Procedure to Seal Planetary Tie Bolts to the Transmission Housing is Now Used {3160}
- Oil/Gas Transmission:
- TH48FT - E80 (S/N: FRT1-UP)
Description of Change: Sealant is now applied to each side of the washers that are used for the planetary tie bolts. The sealant provides an improved seal for the transmission in these locations.
Adaptable To: The 6V-6640 Sealant is effective with TH48FT-E80 Oil/Gas Transmission FRT230.
The 6V-6640 Sealant is adaptable to TH48FT-E80 Oil/Gas Transmission FRT1-229.
Procedure to Apply the Sealant

- Remove 24 bolts (1) .
- Remove 24 washers (2) .
- Apply 6V-6640 Sealant to the top side of the washer and the bottom side of the washer.
- Place washers (2) on the cover. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 105 N·m (77 lb ft).
