(1) O-ring seal ... Lubricate the bore lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(2) Use the following procedure to tighten the bolt.

1. Tighten the bolt.

   Torque ... 55 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft)

2. Lightly tap the water pump drive gear with a soft faced hammer.

3. Tighten the bolt again.

   Torque ... 55 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft)

(4) Apply 4C-9506 Retaining compound to the drive shaft and the seal collar before assembly.

(3) Torque for the full nut ... 60 to 70 N·m (44 to 50 lb ft)

Note: Use the nearest key slot to lock the cotter pin in the full nut.

(5) Torque for the locknut ... 70 to 80 N·m (50 to 60 lb ft)

Note: Use required numbers of 0.25 (0.010) and 0.38 mm (0.015 inch) shims to obtain the axial clearance of the impeller.

(6) Axial clearance on each side of the impeller ... 0.10 to 0.15 mm (0.004 to 0.006 inch)
