Turbocharger - Remove and Install

- Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

- Disconnect nitrogen oxide sensor (9).
- Loosen clamps (8) and (7). Remove exhaust tube assembly (10).

- Remove bolts (17).

Illustration 9 g03652520 - Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (18). The weight of turbocharger (18) is approximately
29 kg (64 lb) . Remove nuts (19). Remove turbocharger (18) and the gasket. - Discard nuts (19).
- Install turbocharger (18) in the reverse order of removal.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of the bolts for nuts (19).
- Install new nuts (19). Tighten nuts (19) in a cross pattern. Tighten nuts (19) to a torque of
70 ± 5 N·m (52 ± 4 lb ft) .Note: Do not use power tools to torque clamps (8) and (7).
- Tighten clamp (8) to a torque of
12 ± 4 N·m (106 ± 35 lb in) . - Tighten clamp (7) to a torque of
55 ± 8 N·m (41 ± 6 lb ft) .Note: New nitrogen oxide sensors (9) are pre-lubricated. Do not apply Tooling (C) to the threads of new nitrogen oxide sensor (9). When installing an existing nitrogen oxide sensor (9) install Tooling (C) on the threads only.
- Apply Tooling (C) to the threads only of nitrogen oxide sensor (9).
- Tighten nitrogen oxide sensor (9) to a torque of
50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft) .Note: Do not use power tools to torque clamps (5) and (3).
- Tighten clamp (5) to a torque of
7.5 ± 1.0 N·m (66.38 ± 8.85 lb in) . - Tighten clamp (3) to a torque of
7.5 ± 1.0 N·m (66.38 ± 8.85 lb in) .
