Personal injury or death can result from improperly checking for a leak. Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak. Escaping air or fluid under pressure, even a pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue causing serious injury, and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury. |
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the power train. |
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Warm the machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9102, "910K 914K Compact Wheel Loaders", "Engine and Machine warmup".
This test is performed in order to measure the difference between the two output ports of the hystat pump.

- Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from working machines and personnel. Lower the work tools to the ground.
- Allow only one operator on the machine. Keep all personnel away from the machine or in the view of the operator.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Place the steering frame lock in the LOCKED position.
- Assemble tooling (1) and (2).
- Release the system pressure Refer to the section titled System Pressure - Release in this manual.
- Install tooling (3) into ports (A) and (B) of the Hystat pump.
- Attach tooling (1) onto tooling (2). Attach tooling (2) to tooling (3).
- Route and secure tooling so that the tooling can be view from the operator station.
- Place the switch for the speed selection in the low speed range. Using the low speed range will ensure that the parameters for shifting are met. Refer to System Operation, Troubleshooting, and Testing and Adjusting, UENR4703
Note: Three speed ranges SR1, SR2, and SRH at any time. SR1 and SR2 are made available by selecting "LOW" on the speed switch. The high speed range is indicated by a letter High inside the symbol of a gear on the instrument cluster.
- Start the engine and run the engine at low idle.
Note: The drive train is able to momentarily activate output of the motor during shifting attempts.
- Release the parking brake.
- Position the machine with the work tool against a stationary object.
- With the machine on level ground and the hydraulic oil at
55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F) , drive the machine forward against the stationary object.Show/hide tableIllustration 2 g01627213 - Slowly increase the engine speed of the machine. Record the drive pump signal pressure at each of the specified RPM ranges. Refer to Table 1 for engine speed ranges to be tested.
- If there is a difference of more than
250 kPa (36 psi) at any recorded speed, refer to System Operation, Troubleshooting, and Testing and Adjusting, UENR4703.
