Flashing Software for the Messenger Display
Caterpillar machines with a factory installed Messenger display come with preloaded Messenger menus and parameter settings. Use the procedure below in order to install software onto Messenger if a new Messenger display is installed on an older machine or an ECM has been replaced.
The new software will allow the ECM to communicate with the Messenger. The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) contains the program WinFlash. WinFlash is used in order to load software into the ECM.
Note: Be sure to use the current software part number. Check the Service Information System (SIS) for the latest software part number.
Note: Flash programming is NOT allowed if the engine is running, or the machine is moving.
