Description of Change: New software is now used on certain H Series Wheel Tractor-Scrapers. The new software contains enhancements for the tractor transmission system, the implement system, and the monitoring system display.

Adaptable To: The new software part numbers for the former part numbers are listed in Table 1.

Note: After flashing new software to an ECM or multiple ECMs, always reset the ECM by cycling the power supply. Turn the key start switch to the OFF position. Wait 10 seconds. Turn the key start switch to the ON position or start the engine. Verify that the operation of the machine is correct and that no new diagnostics have been activated.

All H Series Wheel Tractor-Scraper Model Enhancements:

Transmission/Chassis ECM Software updates:

  • The E0047 (Transmission Abuse Warning) Event and the E0108 (Machine Upshift to Prevent Engine Overspeed) Event are no longer supported in the software. The E1327 (High Engine Speed Shift) Event is now supported to alert the operator when a transmission shift occurs while engine speed is excessively high.

  • An improvement to automatically engage the Parking Brake when the Delayed Engine Shutdown feature is activated. When the Parking Brake is automatically engaged, the operator must cycle the Park Brake Switch in order to release the brake after the next engine start. Move the Park Brake Switch to the ON (engage) position, then move the switch to the OFF (disengage) position in order to release the parking brake.

  • Improvement to the activation logic for the CID 585, FMI-08 and CID 673, FMI-08 (Transmission Output Speed Sensor 1, 2 - Abnormal Frequency, Pulse Width, or Period) diagnostic codes in order to minimize unnecessary activation of the diagnostic codes.

  • Improvement to the activation logic for the E0680 (Access Ladder Lowered with Transmission in Gear) to minimize unnecessary activation of the event when the ladder is moved to the UP position and the parking brake is quickly dis-engaged.

  • Improvement to the transmission downshift logic to allow transmission downshifts at a higher engine speed during normal operation and when retarding. This change should allow quicker downshifts to take place as the engine speed decreases.

Implement ECM Software:

Improvement to the activation threshold for the Sequence Assist Auto/ Manual Switch voltage high, voltage low diagnostics (CID 3603, FMI 03, 04) and the Mode Select Switch voltage high, voltage low diagnostics (CID 874, FMI 03, 04) to minimize unnecessary activation of the diagnostic codes.

Monitoring System Software:

  • Added support for the Dutch and Russian languages.

  • Added support for the E1327 (High Engine Speed Shift) Event.

  • Removed support for the E0047 (Transmission Abuse Warning) Event and the E0108 (Machine Upshift to Prevent Engine Overspeed) Event.

The new software is adaptable to and effective with the serial numbers that are listed in Table 2.
