Installation Procedure

1. Install tube assembly (8) in front housing (3) .

2. Install Tooling (B) in the front of the cylinder block.

3. Place gasket (7) in position on Tooling (B) .

4. Trim gasket (7). Trim this gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.

5. Apply Tooling (C) to the engine oil pan and replace the section of the gasket for the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (D) to the top of the section of the new gasket. Apply Tooling (D) to the intersection of the cylinder block, engine oil pan, and front housing. Tooling (D) will assist with installation of the front housing.

6. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the top of the front housing (3). The weight of front housing (3) is approximately 258 kg (569 lb).

7. Put the front housing in position on Tooling (B) in the front on the cylinder block. Install bolts (4) on the outside of front housing (3). Remove Tooling (B) and install remaining bolts (4) .

8. Install bolts (6) on the outside of front housing.

9. Install bolts (5) on the inside of the front housing.

10. Install new O-ring seals on the connector. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals. Install the connector and sleeve (1) in the front housing.

11. Install sleeve (2) in the front housing.

12. Trim the bottom of the front housing gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.

13. Install the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the bottom of the front housing.

14. Install the oil supply tube that is between the prelubrication oil pump and the oil distribution tee.

15. Install the oil suction tube.

16. Fill the engine oil pan with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change".

End By:

1. Install the priority valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Priority Valve - Install".
2. Install the fuel transfer pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Transfer Pump - Install".
3. Install the crankshaft front seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Front Seal - Install".
4. Install the front idler gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Idler Gears (Front) - Install".
