Many of the components that are connected to the Machine ECM can be calibrated with Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).

To access the calibration procedures for the Machine ECM, establish the connections with Cat ET to the Machine ECM. Navigate to the calibration screen by clicking "Service" on the tool bar and then clicking "Calibrations". Click on the calibration that is needed.
Once the specific calibration is selected, Cat ET will guide you through the calibration procedure.
Cat ET will list initial machine conditions that must be satisfied before the ECM will allow the calibration procedure to continue. Follow the specific instructions on the display to complete the calibration procedure.
Note: If a calibration is aborted by the operator or by the ECM before the calibration is completed, the diagnostic for the calibration will remain active. The ECM will revert to the previous successful calibrated values. Cycle the key in order to clear the diagnostic.
The following list details the calibrations that can be performed for the components on the Machine ECM.
"Implement Operator Control Calibrations"
This calibration associates a duty cycle to a given lever position for the following components:
- Blade Control Lever
- Blade Control Handle Thumbrocker (Dual Tilt Only)
- Auxiliary Control Lever #1,#2 and #3 (If Equipped)
- Ripper Control Lever (If Equipped)
- Winch Control Lever (If Equipped)
Solenoid calibrations allow the ECM to determine the correct amount of output current that is required to initiate the opening of the affected hydraulic valve. This action provides optimum performance and control of the hydraulic system.
To perform a solenoid calibration, select the specific solenoid from the Cat ET screen and follow the displayed directions. Calibration procedures are available for the following solenoids:
"Implement Solenoids Calibrations"
The blade is moved by the joystick and recorded in Cat ET by the operator when the blade actually moves.
- Blade Raise Solenoid
- Blade Lower Solenoid
- Blade Tilt Right Solenoid
- Blade Tilt Left Solenoid
- Blade Tilt Extend Solenoid (Dual Tilt Only)
- Blade Tilt Retract Solenoid (Dual Tilt Only)
- Ripper Raise Solenoid (If Equipped)
- Ripper Lower Solenoid (If Equipped)
- Ripper Shank In Solenoid (If Equipped)
- Ripper Shank Out Solenoid (If Equipped)
