New AccuGrade software version 11.21 for the CD700 display is now available on SISweb.

New Features for the Accugrade V11.21

Trimble SNM930 or third party cellular

• Modems can be used for Two-Way data support with Trimble Connected Community (TCC). The TCC allows "Rest of World" Two-Way data support.

• Accugrade V11.21 adds support for dial string configuration for cellular modems.

Direct Serial Link

• Provides another wireless communication type that supports the Trimble SNM940 cellular modem.

• Set in machine settings/wireless communications type.

2D Avoidance Zone Changes

V11.21 has added an extra required machine dimension for excavators and 2D Avoidance Zone calculations.

• The new dimension measures the distance from the back mast to the back of the counterbalance

• New Minimum Warning Distance – 0.3 m

Rough Grade Control on Caterpillar D7E

Rough grade control functionality is a new feature introduced in V11.21 that is available on only Caterpillar D7E machines.

• Aids the operator in mass excavation situations by allowing the operator to use the machine most effectively without having to worry about going below the design – at the center of the blade

• If the center of the blade is below design, the automatics will engage to bring the center of the blade up to the design

• If the center of the blade is on design, the automatics will engage to keep the center of the blade on design

• If the center of the blade is above the design, the operator has full manual control.

• There is no automatic tilt control when rough grade control is being used.

• This feature is selected in the Grade Control Method Menu Item

Minimum Level for Version of Software

Refer to Table 1 for the software minimum requirements that are needed for AccuGrade components. If version 11.21 of the AccuGrade software is used with system components that have older versions of software, the "Diagnostics" screen will be displayed. The "Diagnostics" screen will show the correct version of software that is required.

Refer to the applicable Systems OperationTroubleshootingTesting and Adjusting, "Display Firmware Upgrade" for detailed information about upgrading the firmware for the system.

Note: If the software for the radio is not the required version level, the radio will be listed as "Not Found". The "Diagnostics" screen will continue to prompt the operator.

Upgrading

Check the software support option expiration date on the CD700. If the date is 16November 2009, or later, the display can be upgraded. If the date is before 16November 2009, a new service support key is required before upgrading the display. A new service support key is part of the AccuGrade v11.21 upgrade kit that must be purchased from Trimble Navigation Ltd at http://heavyandhighwaypartners.trimble.com. If necessary, select "Create an Account" in the right-hand dialogue.

The software can be downloaded from the "Downloads" section of SISweb. Refer to Illustration 1. This download is a self-extracting zip file that contains all the current production software for AccuGrade 3D v11.21 on the following machine types: Motor Graders, Track-Type Tractors, Excavators, Wheel Tractor Scrapers and Compactors.

Once the software is extracted, the software is broken up into the following folders:

• Display- Contains the display firmware (*.SG2)

• Radio- Contains the Radio folders that have instructions and firmware in order to update the radio. A radio service cable and MCGFlash are required in order to flash TC series radios.

• Sensors- Contains two subfolders, which are Cat Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Flashable and Display Flashable. The AccuGrade components for the excavator system must be upgraded via the display. Some of the AccuGrade components can be flashed with Cat ET and will use a (*.fls) file type. The display can be used to upgrade most AccuGrade components by entering the "Upgrade Software" menu on the display.

• Valve Module- Contains firmware for valve modules.

There is an operating system upgrade and a new (*.sg2) file when upgrading to v11.21. Refer to the following steps to complete the setup:

1. The pre-update (*.mch) and (*.dsp) files are automatically restored to the display, however, save the files to the compact flash card before upgrading.

2. Put the files from the display folder (eboot.bin, fpga_cmb.bin, nk.bin, AccuGrade_1121.SG2) on the root folder of the card.

3. Turn off power to the machine.

4. Install the card in the display and then repower the machine.

5. Press the display power button and you will be prompted to update. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
