If you store your machine, fully retract the unprotected cylinder rod. Refer to Illustration 1.

If you do not retract the cylinder rod, you should apply a water and temperature resistant grease such as 129-1966 Multipurpose Grease. Refer to Special Instruction, SEHS9031, "Storage Procedure For Caterpillar Products" for other part numbers and container sizes of grease for use on exposed cylinder rods. Additional information on storage procedures for cylinders is provided in this Special Instruction.
