Start By:
- Remove the steering oil tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Tank (Steering) (Brake) - Remove".
- Remove the engine oil renewal tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Tank (Metering, Oil Renewal System) - Remove".
- Remove the fuel heater. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Heater - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Remove guard (1) .

- Disconnect harness assembly (2) .

- Disconnect harness assemblies (3). Remove harness assemblies (3) from the fuel tank.

- Disconnect hose assembly (5). Remove hose assembly (5) from the fuel tank. Remove bracket (4). Position bracket (4) aside.

- Remove clamp (6) .

- Remove clamp (7) .

- Remove any remaining clips (8) from the fuel tank.

- Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to fuel tank (9). The weight of fuel tank (9) is approximately 999 kg (2200 lb).

- Remove bolts (10). Remove fuel tank (9) .
