Improved Track Seals for the Links are Now Used {4169, 4171, 4174, 4175}

Usage:

Track-Type Tractor: D7RSeries II (S/N: AEC1-UP; AFG1-UP; ABJ1-UP; AGN1-UP; ACS1-UP)
Pipelayer: 572RSeries II (S/N: DSC1-UP)

Description of Change: An improved track seal is now available for the following machines:

D7R
D7R Series II
572R
572R Series II

The improved track seal contains a seal lip that is made from a new material. This material has demonstrated an improvement in wear of the seal in both testing in the lab and testing in the field. The new material has the following characteristics:

Stronger
Resistant to the effects of wear
Resistant to the effects of water
Resistant to the effects of aging

The shape of the seal components has been changed. The improved seals resist the entry of dirt and particles of sand. This feature reduces the effects of abrasive elements on the seal components. This improvement will increase the life of the seal in all applications.

Note: The link assembly identification code is stamped on the shoe surface of the second right hand link from the bushing end master link. The number is located between the bolt holes of the shoes. The identification number is composed of five to eight digits in the following order: P A 001 Y 01. In this application, the "P" represents the facility that the link assembly came from. The "A" represents the year that the link assembly was built. The "001" represents the day of the year the link assembly was built. The "Y " represents the optional letter specified by individual plants and the "01" is the optional consecutive number of link assembly built on a given day.

Adaptable To: The new 239-7943 Seal and 272-6013 Seal Set became effective in production with the following machines:

Machine serial numbers between AEC00884 and AEC01537 may have been shipped with link assemblies that contain the improved track seals. These link assemblies have an identification code of PF154xxx or higher.

The effective serial numbers for the tracks that are supplied to the parts system are the following: PF159L08 and HG138E01.
