Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
The machines that are equipped with Secondary Steering have experienced intermittent secondary steering pump flow. This problem frequently occurs when the machine is at low idle. The steering system pressure can fall momentarily below the activation pressure of the supplemental steering switch. This will cause the secondary steering alarms.
Solution
This problem can be solved by simply raising the standby pressure setting. Adjust the margin pressure to the maximum setting in order to affect the standby pressure of the steering system. Refer to table 1. For example, set a 938G Series II to 2600 kPa (375 psi).
Model     | Media Number     | Margin Pressure Setting     |
938GII     | RENR 6072-01     | 2500 ± 100 kPa (360 ± 15 psi)     |
950GII     | RENR 4314-03     | 2400 ± 100 kPa (350 ± 15 psi)     |
950H     | RENR 8872-01     | 2400 ± 150 kPa (350 ± 20 psi)     |
966GII     | RENR 4390-02     | 2400 ± 100 kPa (350 ± 15 psi)     |
966H     | RENR 8852-01     | 2400 ± 150 kPa (350 ± 20 psi)     |
962GII     | RENR 4314-03     | 2400 ± 100 kPa (350 ± 15 psi)     |
972GII     | RENR 4390-02     | 2400 ± 100 kPa (350 ± 15 psi)     |
