Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Install the rear wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".

2. Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

3. Remove the front tires. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install".

1. Remove bolts (2) that connect front drive shaft (3) to the front axle. Tape spider assembly (1) to prevent spider assembly (1) from disassembling.

2. Disconnect hose assemblies (4), (5), and (6) from the top of the front axle assembly.

3. Attach a suitable lifting device to front axle assembly (7). The suitable lifting device should be fastened around the housing for the service brake, as shown. This will prevent front axle assembly (7) from rotating when front axle assembly (7) is lowered. The weight of front axle assembly (7) is approximately 19,050 kg (42,000 lb).

4. Remove guard (9). Disconnect harness assembly (10). Remove bolts (8).

5. Use the suitable lifting device to lower front axle assembly (7) onto suitable dollies or skid pans. Pull axle assembly (7) out form under the machine.
