Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.

When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.

Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.

  1. Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) to install fixed axle (4) to the front of the machine. Weight of the fixed axle is 379 kg (835 lb).

  1. Install plates, washers, eight bolts (3), and nuts to the fixed axle. Tighten the bolts.

    Note: Step 3 is for the 908.

  1. Connect line (2) and line (1) to the fixed axle.

  1. Remove Tooling (B) and Tooling (A) from the fixed axle.

End By:

  1. Install the tire and rim. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the parking brake for the 908. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Remove and Install".
  3. Install the service and parking brake for the 906. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Service and Parking Brake - Remove and Install".
  4. Install the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".
  5. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
