--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Late last year the computerized Product Information System was introduced to U.S. and Canadian dealers and to a few COSA dealers. Several other dealers also have access to this system via Telex into the Worldwide Information System.

The benefits of this system will not be fully realized if it is not kept up-to-date. Each dealer can do this by getting the changes from his users and/or TEPS dealers, and updating the system on his own computer terminal. Ask users and TEPS dealers in your territory to notify you when they make a major addition or modification to the product or when they sell or dispose of the product. Let them know you are always interested in their products in this regard so you can enter important data in the Product Information System.

Dealers that have the Product Information System can update this system on their own computer terminals. For example, you can add or delete attachments and other major components as shown in Illustration 1. Refer to the Users Manual SEBD0631-01. See the section titled "Inquiry Serial Number To Prime Mover". This can be done on products in your territory that have been built in the last 11 years.

Illustration 1. This screen lists the major components on the engine. Caterpillar dealers can change this listing if assemblies or groups are added to or removed from the engine.

If the engine changes owners or is moved to a different address, this information can also be updated by dealers. Use the section titled "Inquiry Serial Number To Customer Name/Address". Illustration 2 shows an example of this information on the computer screen.

Illustration 2. This screen lists the owner's name and address. Caterpillar dealers can change this too if necessary.
